For my concentration, I aim to depict the succession of the fall of an angel from heaven to earth. The first piece will depict an angel in heaven. The focus will be on male angel, who will wear a white cloth around his waist and silver armor and have a muscular build and a beautiful face. I based his armor off of a picture by Gustave Dore called Depiction of Satan based off of Milton's Paradise Lost. My angel will have strong white wings that will be rather large (no tiny cupid wings, these have to be able to let him fly if he were real). He will have his arms out wide with his wings spread in full and he will be looking up. His legs will be positioned with one straight and one slightly bend at the knee. His body position mimics that of Jesus on the cross only with his head looking to the sky. There will be a glowing light surrounding him and he will be standing on clouds which will be white and airy. The second piece will have the same angel, with his armor off (guard down to sin) with the devil’s claw grasping his foot on the edge of the clouds, pulling him down. God’s hand will be reaching for him and he will be reaching for God. He will be looking back at Satan and look surprised. His hair will be blowing in the wind toward Satan. His wings will be partly spread. The third picture will depict the angel in a dark forest filled with tall pine trees with trunks that are close to black. The tops of the trees will not be seen. His wings will be blood stained and spread out half way. The cloth wrapped around his waist will be torn and dirty he will be crouched looking at his halo on the ground in front of him. He will look solemn. There will be a parting in the trees where the clouds will be seen. I plan to use acrylic paint for the first piece and white feathers which will go on the wings. This picture will be 32" X 28". I will use metallic silver tempura paint for the armor to add the sheen of his holy breast plate. The second piece will be smaller, 16" X 12". I will draw this piece with graphite pencil. The final piece will be 18" X16". I will use charcoal for the trees, graphite pencil and charcoal for the angel. the halo will be painted with gold metallic tempura paint and the clouds above will be painted with acrylic paint.
